After a tough and disappointing season in 2014, the Canucks found themselves with a 0.5% chance of making the playoffs and only 6 games left to play. Sometimes you will find yourself in a situation that seems hopeless, or you may feel like that about life in general. While it’s tempting to just give up because you feel paralyzed with fear or despair, you always have a choice to keep moving. It can be really hard sometimes and it’s a choice that you have to keep on making, but the important thing is that you keep trying.
The Canucks didn’t make the playoffs, and sometimes that happens in life – we experience failure or disappointment and things don’t seem to go our way. When that happens, all you can do is “just keep swimming” and keep on doing your best every day. Give yourself a break and stop ruminating on past disappointments or fears about the future, and concentrate on the now. You can’t change the past, but you can change how you respond to it.
Game Plan: Do something to ‘get moving’ today. If you have a big project that seems overwhelming, break it up into small steps and tackle the first one. If you’re having trouble finding motivation, choose one thing to do that will give you a sense of accomplishment, and don’t forget to celebrate the little victories.
