Yesterday was about gaining a sense of accomplishment when you don’t have any motivation at all, concentrating on just one thing to do that day. But even on the days when you’re feeling good, you could find yourself getting overwhelmed with your to-do list. That’s the thing about a to-do list – often when you cross one thing off, another gets added.
Your list will never be finished, which is why I’ve found that the best way to feel a sense of accomplishment each day is to pick one main thing that day that I want to get done. There are other things that I would like to do as well, but I prioritize that one thing so that instead of feeling disappointed about what I didn’t get done (we often overestimate what we can get done in a day), I’m happy that I made time for that one thing that I set out to do.
Game Plan: Choose one thing every day (whether in the morning or the night before) that you want to prioritize, and make that your goal for the day. Make sure that you acknowledge your accomplishments instead of just looking ahead to the next thing!
