This is one of my favourite quotes, and I often remember it when I’m feel like I’m under pressure. Pressure doesn’t actually exist – it is a feeling that we create based on how we perceive the situation we’re in. It’s not always bad – pressure can be used to your advantage if you realize it is something that you can control – but if you feel like you’re under intense pressure that is affecting your performance right now, it’s a sign that you are focusing too much on something outside of the present.
Game Plan: Practice mindfulness when you feel yourself worrying or feeling pressure in your life. Focus on your breathing, practice meditation, take a walk, or try using reminders (such as a bracelet or a string tied around your wrist) to stay centered in the present moment.
