It’s important to stay humble when everything seems to be going well for you, but also keep your confidence when things aren’t going so well. We won’t succeed at everything we do, and failure is inevitable when you are putting yourself out there and taking risks.
Sidney Crosby has achieved a lot of success in his career (Olympic gold medals, a gold medal at the World Juniors, a Stanley Cup, numerous awards…) and being in the position that he is, he also receives a lot of criticism when he doesn’t live up to the extremely high expectations set for him. If he let himself be influenced by all of the negativity and doubt (we often do this to ourselves when we fail), he would have a hard time seeing success in his future. It’s important to have dreams, but don’t put unrealistic expectations on yourself. All you can do is your best.
Failure is a part of life, but you can decide to pick yourself back up and keep going.
Game Plan: Don’t kick yourself when you’re down. Learn from failure rather than letting it get to your heart.
