#054: Power Play – The Middle

Hey, don’t write yourself off yet.

It’s only in your head you feel left out or looked down on.

Just do your best, do everything you can.

And don’t you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say.

It just takes some time,

Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride.

Everything (everything) will be just fine,

Everything (everything) will be alright (alright).

Hey, you know they’re all the same.

You know you’re doing better on your own, so don’t buy in.

Live right now.

Yeah, just be yourself.

It doesn’t matter if it’s good enough for someone else.  – Jimmy Eat World, The Middle

This song was well played on my discman in grade seven, but I don’t think I really realized what a good message it contains until James Maslow danced to it on this season of Dancing with the Stars based on the tough times he went through in high school.  High school can be a difficult period of life, but we also encounter difficult times throughout our lives.  Sometimes you just have to have faith that the rain won’t last forever and the sun will come out again.

Game Plan:  If you’re going through a tough time, remember that the world will keep turning, there are still a lot of good things to look forward to, and things will get better.  Whatever you’re going through won’t last forever – all you can do is live right now and just be yourself 🙂
