Goals are what push us, keep us moving forward, and inspire us to make change in our lives. But it’s also important to be content with who you are and where you are, which is hard to do with a narrow definition of success.
For example, if you believe that success is having a lot of money and a ‘prestigious’ job, you might be setting yourself up for failure if that’s not really what makes you happy. Being a high-powered executive means nothing if you don’t enjoy what you do. Wealth and status do not create happiness, and in my mind, happiness is a huge part of success.
Game Plan: Do you feel like you fit into this definition of success? Create your own definition, and make sure that your goals align with your own idea of success rather than someone else’s.
