Use your experience, don’t let it use you. It’s likely that you won’t succeed on the first try, but if you allow yourself to learn from the situation and use it to make yourself better, the only time you must not fail is the last time you try.
You’re not always going to win the game, get the job, or hit the bullseye, but that doesn’t mean that YOU are a failure. You may fail on an attempt, but as long as you get back up, learn from the experience, and continue on, you can choose what that failure says about you.
When you haven’t achieved your goal on the first shot (or second, or third), or you’ve failed at something that mattered to you, remember that it doesn’t define who you are. You can never be a failure. Winners also experience disappointment, uncertainty, and doubt, but instead of dwelling on the negativity, they use the experience instead of letting it use them.
“Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.” – Zig Ziglar
Game Plan: Whatever happens, choose to use your experience to make you better. Remind yourself, ‘I’m focused and nothing can get me off track.’
