The road to success is never easy, but I think that going through challenges is just a part of the process. It prepares us for what’s coming next, but also helps us appreciate success when we reach our goals.
It reminds me of something that Derek Jory (the blogger for the Canucks) said when they were eliminated in the first round of the 2012 playoffs: “When their time comes, remember how you feel right now. It’ll make the light at the end of the tunnel so much brighter.”
Life will always have its ups and downs, and if you’re feeling down or in a low point right now, know that you will get back up there. I like the analogy of the arrow – it has to go backward before it goes forward, but think of those difficulties as launching you into something great.
Game Plan: Make a pump-up playlist with some fun, energetic songs that you can play when you need a little mood boost. Some suggestions to get you started are ‘Unstoppable’ by Foxy Shazam, ‘The Whip’ by Locksley (the goal song for numerous NHL teams), and ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Toploader (or the original by King Harvest), one of my favourite feel-good songs.
