Mistakes are the portals of discovery. – James Joyce
Everyone makes mistakes. Nobody’s perfect, and we can’t expect ourselves to be perfect. Don’t punish yourself by kicking yourself when you’re down. Let those feelings of shame and disappointment go. You can’t erase the past, but if you use it as a learning opportunity, you can do your best to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Game Plan: Remind yourself that you are not your mistakes, but that you can define yourself by what you choose to do with them. Keep it in perspective, create a plan so you know what to do if you find yourself in the same position again, apologize if anyone was hurt by your mistake, focus on the positives and what you’ve learned from your experience, and leave it behind.
