#104: Power Play – Tomorrow is another day

What screws us up most in life is the picture in our heads of how it’s supposed to be.

Life doesn’t go perfectly according to plan – it can be messy and confusing, and some days (or every day!) you may feel like you don’t have it all together.  But that’s okay!  Life will never feel like it’s supposed to.

There is no “supposed to”, and no one has it all figured out.  Everyone questions themselves at times, and no one has all the answers.  All you can do is live your own life doing what feels right to you and throw “supposed to” out the window.  Because even if you feel like you should know what you want to do, be further along in your job, be married by now… all of that is fueled by trying to live someone else’s life and going after what you think you’re supposed to do or supposed to be when all you need to be is yourself.  You don’t need to have it all worked out.  You are right where you are meant to be.

Game Plan:  Make a list of the things that you are happy about in your life, or how though you may not have reached your goals yet, you are working to get there.  You may not know what you want to do yet, but you are looking at different volunteer and co-op opportunities or looking through job boards.  You may wish you were further along in your job, but are going above and beyond your job description and are actively looking for opportunities to get ahead.  If you have a goal but feel stuck because you haven’t gotten there yet, think of ideas that will help move you towards it.  You don’t need to have it all worked out and life will likely never feel like it’s supposed to – just embrace it and be comfortable in what’s right for you!
