A winning attitude is knowing that you deserve to use your abilities and achieve success. So much of what holds us back is our attitude – thinking that someone else is better than us and believing that we’ll fail before we even begin. With that attitude, it’s hard to succeed because of the voice in your head bringing you down. Know that you deserve success. Picture that winning scenario in your mind, believe in it with all of your heart, and know that you can achieve it!
Game Plan: Learn to feel deserving. Try an exercise from Saul Miller’s book, ‘Hockey Tough’ if feeling undeserving is an issue for you: Sit back and tune into your breathing rhythm. Allow time for each breath to come all the way in and go all the way out. Relax. Breathe slowly and smoothly. As you do, remind yourself that you deserve your time. It should be more than an idea, but a feeling. The first step is knowing that you deserve it, and then believing that you can do it. With mental confidence, you are more than half way there.
