Mutantur omnia nos et mutamur in illis is a Latin proverb that is translated as: All things change, and we change with them. Sometimes it feels like everything outside of us is changing… our family, going away to school, leaving school, our town, our friends… but the truth is that we’re changing too. We get older, have experiences, learn and change from them, discover new things, and the things we like and dislike evolve. Just like the world around us, if we didn’t change, we wouldn’t grow. Change can seem scary sometimes, but it is a part of life. It’s not something to be avoided or feared. When you start to accept it as a good thing, it’s easier to go with the flow and look forward to what’s ahead.
Game Plan: Stress and anxiety come from the fear of change and trying to avoid it. When we begin to realize that change isn’t something to be feared and avoided but is a natural, positive part of life, you can let go of that tension, stress, and discomfort, and open yourself up to new possibilities.
