When you focus on something, your energy increases in that area both physically and mentally. That’s why they say that so much of the game is mental – focusing on the skills you’ve practiced, a good shift, a good outcome, is what helps fuel your performance. That’s also why it’s important to focus on the positive. When you focus on imagining a good shift, a good exam, a good interview, it helps to increase your confidence and make it a reality. On the flip side, concentrating on all of the things that could go wrong or on your weaknesses will drain you of that positive energy. Where focus goes, energy flows.
Game Plan: Sit down and close your eyes. Take a deep breath, breathing in energy from all around you. Imagine what you want in your mind. See it clearly, in as much detail as possible. What are you feeling? Excitement? Joy? Love? Believe in yourself. Feel that confidence, and use it.
