You do not exist to impress the world. If you’re living to try to impress other people and live up to their expectations, you are trapping yourself in a box that limits who you are meant to be. True happiness comes from following your own path and being your own, true self. We waste so much time and money trying to impress other people, but the people you really want to be around are the ones who love the real you. When you are able to be honest and authentic about who you are, it lifts the burden of always trying to impress other people. If you are true to yourself, everything else will fall into place.
Game Plan: Ask yourself why and in which situations you try to impress others. When you know why you’re behaving a certain way, then you can take steps to change that behaviour. It may be because you crave praise, but while everyone likes to be acknowledged, you don’t need it to know that you’re important. It may be because you feel intimidated by someone or feel like they’re smarter or more together than you, but we’re all human – no one is perfect. When you don’t feel like you have to impress anybody, you have the freedom to be completely and totally you.
