Sometimes, all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it. – We Bought a Zoo
Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith, not knowing what will happen, but trusting that you will be able to work through it and carry on whether you get the outcome you wanted or not. We’re scared of embarrassing ourselves, of failing, but it’s those risks that scare us that can really pay off. Vulnerability isn’t always easy, but rejection and failure are less painful than regret. Sure, you might embarrass yourself, but if that’s the worst thing that could happen, the reward likely outweighs the risk. Find the courage to try new things and reach out of your comfort zone. Dare to live.
Game Plan: When you get that feeling in your throat, the stiffness in your muscles, the tightening of your chest… those 20 seconds of insane courage are calling you. Remind yourself of this – print it out, stick it in your wallet. Remember that whenever something scares you – introducing yourself to someone, picking up the phone, sending out a message – sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of courage.
