Your focus, the way you perceive the world, determines your attitude toward life in general. If you focus on what you are grateful for, you will see more ways to express that gratitude and appreciate what you have. On the other hand, if you find yourself complaining or your focus is on what you don’t have, you will never have enough – nothing will be able to satisfy you. The key is in being happy with what you have and where you are right now. Concentrating on what you don’t have can lead to bitterness and jealousy, whereas being thankful for what you do is like a happiness multiplier – gratitude and truly appreciating the blessings in your life will give you so much more happiness.
Game Plan: Keep a blessings box (a nice box or chest that you can decorate) and fill it with note cards where you have written down blessings in your life or things that make you happy. If you’re feeling down or in need of some gratitude, you can go through the box and remind yourself of all of the good things in life. You could also keep track of your blessings in a journal or with cards in a glass bowl – whatever it is, try to add to it every day and watch your blessings overflow!
