It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err. – Gandhi
When the town’s football hero Jason Street was paralyzed in the first episode of Friday Night Lights, Coach Taylor gave a closing monologue, a post-game speech, on the fragility of life. We are all vulnerable and we will all fall, but the point is that we are resilient, that there is always redemption available for us. We may have to look inside ourselves and question our purpose, our values, and maybe reinvent ourselves. But you can get up again. What we have can be taken away, and when we realize how vulnerable we are and how fragile life is, that just makes what we have all the more special.
Game Plan: No one has a strong grasp on life, but at the same time, worrying about all of the things you could lose takes away from living each moment to its fullest. Though we may not have a firm grasp and feel like we’re falling in those tough times, God grabs us by our wrist. Even if you feel like you’ve lost hold of him and you’re struggling to hold on, he is always holding onto you.
